Q1)What is Firmware? Firmware is the software of the PSP. Basically the capability of a PSP depends on its Firmware. Right now Firmwares are from 1.00 to 5.00, each update allows more capability than the previous. Though there are official Sony Firmwares, these firmwares are severley limited. Q2) What is Custom Firmware? Custom Firmware is an improved version of Sony's firmware. It maintains all the features of a normal fimrware PSP: gaming, videos, audio, internet, pictures, etc. along with amazing unlocked features. It runs just as smooth, and perfect, and has no reductions except for what was intentionally discarded by the designers. There is a gold-mine of extraordinary programs that cannot be run on Sony's Firmware, but only on Custom Firmware . Pictures of some of programs are displayed on the sides. Among the best of these programs (and included with all our PSPs) allow you to do things such as watch YouTube and Google Vid on the PSP, Have a small version of Vista, read books, have the iphone menu, check the weather, manage your files, change your T.V channel and more. Custom Firmware can run games for the PSP, GBA, SNES, NES, GB, Sega Saturn, Sega Genesis, most for PS1 and a few for N64 plus more on the PSP through the Memory stick from online downloads. They are not sold in many stores, and even if they are obtained, it is even harder to find all the best programs in their latest and most functional forms along with their set-up guides. Even after this customization, there are still restrictions on the PSP and on many homebrew programs, Thus the PSPs on this site are sold with a 1.50 Kernel installed, which makes the PSP compatible to about all homebrew programs. Q6) Is it hard to use a Custom Firmware PSP? Not al all. Just becuase its difficult to create the items for the initial customization does not mean at all that the PSP itself will be harder to use.
